How do I activate a Solidworks 2016 license when you get this error message?
Note that it is a 2014 license renewal for the same user but on a different PC, on which we no longer have the way to transfer the license since formatting since then. License purchased 3 months ago but unusable software.

The best way would be to go through the support service of solidworks, MyCadService or your reseller I think
And to ask them to release your licenses by telling them what you have noted above
