I would like to convert this part in step format to sheet metal (I have already done it for other parts without problems) however here when I want to define it by sectioning the flat face on the left as the origin and the curved face as the first fold the following error message appears, does anyone have a solution? Thank you!

I can't see the part very well -especially what happens on the edges - but the message seems explicit and invites you to put (if possible) the selected side of the fold on the same side as the face defined as fixed.
Since you're in sheet metal and the thickness isn't very significant, what's stopping you from putting both sides on the same side.
If not, can you post your piece so that we can look at it.
