Granite look (finish) for machining on any surface?

How to make a granite appearance (finish) on the surface of a mold for machining on any surface with solidworks?

(embossed like sandpaper)

Hello

You have to use appearances:

http://help.solidworks.com/2013/french/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_appearances_overview.htm

To view this PropertyManager, in the DisplayManager, click View Appearances . Right-click an appearance and selectAppearance.

In the PropertyManager, click Advanced, and then click the Surface Condition tab

Especially:

The Realview must be activated I think:

Hello

If you already have a picture of the look you want or if not, you have to look for it on the net and then do as the attached links:

Yes, thank you for your answers, but it's just an appearance what you're offering me when I want a function that makes a real relief on my CAD for machining.

I don't believe it's possible, too heavy for the software. The only possibility it seems to me would be to have fun making small extrusions and then repeat them... And now it's going to be the same, super heavy... I do with appences and it works well for MEPs. As an example, I use the carbon texture for bending tear sheets to know which side the tears are on for the bender...

It will be possible with a repetition in a zone:

First we create a first extrusion in the shape of a circle of a tenth of a millimeter, then we make chamfers to make a kind of bump, finally we repeat this function in the area.

But indeed, it may be very heavy...

To complete yourself @Manu67, don't forget to put yourself in "stop in shaded image mode". Otherwise, the appearance will not be visible on the drawing!!

Effectively coin37coin; I forgot to mention that! Thank you ;-)

Indeed it's very heavy, I was only able to make 600 elements.

I might do a sandblasting instead.
