Know an android phone app to scan in 3D to have an stl format for solidworks
Hello
For having tried 3D scanning apps I have always been disappointed with the result, if you have a quadro type graphics card or equivalent, I recommend the Meshroom software it is free, it allows you to rebuild a volume in 3D from a bunch of photos taken with any device (we call it photogrammetry)(with an iPhone you have to convert the photos to PNG or other because the software does not support photos in .heic )
Then once the reconstruction is finished you have to "clean" the scan to remove all the extra parts, the 3D Builder software does it very easily, then depending on the size of your 3D file you will probably need to reduce the number of facets because Solidworks does not support more than a certain number of STL facets. To reduce the number of facets , still 3D Builder function is called ''Simplify''.
Then all you have to do is drag your STL into Solidworks
Also remember to rescale your scan
There are a multitude of software programs that allow you to modify your 3D scans:
Meshlab (allows you to do photogrammetry and also to simplify/recut the 3D model)
Meshroom (photogrammetry)
Blender (edit STL)
3D Builder (edit STL)
Fusion 360 (modify the STL and also convert to step)
etc
Google and YouTube have no shortage of information on this subject
