Have the rights to Solidworks

Hello, (Sw 2016)

Not having administrator rights on my pc, I wanted to know if our IT managers could give me access so that I could change the "File Locations" in "System Options".

I realized that without the rights I couldn't, for example, use the property editor. I enter the data but it is not updated due to lack of rights. (Because it works for me)

Knowing that they don't give anyone admin access, can they give me the rights to one of the Solidworks files so that it can work?

Hello

Your administrator must be able to give you rights to SOLIDWORKS directories. On the other hand, you can also copy all your parameterization files to custom directories to which you have the rights. The advantage is that in case of SW update or uninstallation you keep your settings. All you have to do is point your general SW options to these directories.

Kind regards

I already have a "Solidworks Template" file in my documents with my settings.

Precisely without the rights I can't have anything pointed out on my file. I'll see with them so that they give me full access to the Sw directories.

If you have installed SOLIDWORKS on the C: partition, you need to put your custom directories on the D: partition, which will remove your access problems. If you are several PCs, you can put them on a network drive accessible to all.

Thank you for the information but he doesn't want to know anything, he asks for an admin mdp:(

I'll wait for an answer to give me the rights to the directories.

OK I think it's better indeed to see with the network administrator of your company. Explain that you need to have read/write access to these directories.

Hello

This is surprising because we don't have admin rights (SW tries to access the registry when we change the system settings) but this doesn't prevent us from changing the access paths, just click on no or cancel when the login window is presented.

Cyril.f, I had already tried it and it didn't work.

I finally have the rights to all the Solidworks folders but I still have a problem that has not been solved.

In the file location > Custom Property Files I added the location of my file "properties.txt"  and when I open the editor it puts me in the attributes > Name values which have nothing to do with my file "properties.txt".

Is this another problem?

I finally found my mystery, no matter how much I point the editor to a personal file it doesn't want to, on the other hand it points by itself in its installation file: C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\sldPropertyTabBuilder and the text file is called propNAMES.txt...
