Hello, I am currently in preparatory class at the Baggio high school in Lille (PSI stream). I am contacting you because I am doing a TIPE (supervised personal initiative work) to pass my competitions at the end of the year and my subject is about sailing and the factors influencing the speed of the sailboat. So my goal will be to perform a simulation of sail under software to look at the influence of different factors on it. I would have liked to know if you had time to devote to me in order to help me in my project. (To perform solidworks modeling). Thank you for your answer. Sincerely, Lammens Hugo.
Your title is ambiguous because you are modeling 2D or in your case if you want to see laminar flow, etc... you absolutely need 3D. 3D only exists because some problems can only be analyzed in multidimensional.
For your project, you need to use Flow simulation, which is a "trèscherware" and difficult to master. SW Simulation Basic or Pro is intended for RDM (material strength) and is only useful for this purpose such as "resistance of a shackle to an axial tension of 15 tons, i.e. 150,000 N.
Given your current training, your project seems too ambitious because even if you are already quite educated and dynamic: you must always keep in mind that what you will learn in your future studies in preparatory and higher education is well you don't know it yet.
One last point, the forum is intended to help colleagues on concrete problems, on features or ways of using SolidWorks: but not at all to do, nor project support, or even worse to carry out in part instead of.
I advise you to reduce your ambition on a project or a subject that you will be able to complete to 95% with your current knowledge.
I wish you good luck for TIPE and when you have your new project or this one a little better defined, come and talk to us about it.
