Hello
@Alain.ERP didn't teach you that? ;-)
Put us a picture of the room and tell us where you want to make this flat. There are plenty of simple ways to do it, we'll tell you the most suitable.

Put us a picture of the room and tell us where you want to make this flat. There are plenty of simple ways to do it, we'll tell you the most suitable.
by pressing on a plane or the axis system
By an arc on the flat face (normal to the axis)
With a rectangle (plane parallel to the axis)
@PL, in fact there is a 3rd solution. ;-)
I imagine that you are talking about a plane // to the axis and therefore tangent.
A rectangular sketch can also be made on a plane passing through the axis and perpandicular to the final flat.
Here, 3 flats, 3 methods. The first is to be preferred because it is more flexible to change the shape of the flat.
Example in SolidWorks 2013
I would use a basic plan, and I would do a removal with a delay.
I don't like to add extra shots.
Have a nice day
That's @Benoit.LF, I think that with this, Mr. Delrue will succeed. I would show him all the possibilities in progress, including this one: draw on a plane passing through the axis and then in the removal of material, make an offset (see image). A rather important trick for these solutions is to put the lines tangent to the diameter so that the removal of material follows it if it were to change.
Thank you Benoit. LF
