I am trying to define the cross-section of a metal beam (HEA or HEB of 160 or 180) without deflection or very small, support points 3 meters, distributed load 4 tons.
Thank you in advance.

See this link Very well done for beam calculation
a grid to fill in ;-)

Hello, for a beam of 3m long and 4 tons evenly distributed on the beam, non-recessed beam (just supported at the ends:
HEA 180: 2.7mm boom (beam weight: 106.5Kg)
HEB160: 2.7mm boom (beam weight (127.8 Kg)
Formula: f=(5*q*l^4)/(384*E*I)
with:
f :arrow in cm
q=4000kg
l=3m
E:2.1 (Young's modulus for steel)
I : Max moment of inertia in cm^4
