Hello
As part of a school assignment, I have to carry out a project.
I uploaded a 3D file to a free file bank. I have the 3D file in .obj format
I need to calculate the mass of the object. However, the "mass properties" function is no longer selective. How to do it? Is this due to the .obj file?
Thank you very much for your help,
Good evening
The . OBJ are 3D images with no internal consistency.
I'm amazed that you can read a file directly. OBJ with Solidworks which does not offer * files when opened. OBJ
Normally! you have to go through a suitable plug-in: then convert the file in SolidWorks into a body (because normally after conversion: you have a surface form (like STL or IGES so without solid content and therefore without mass)
After conversion and then a save to SLDPRT, you can then assign material to it. Only by having a body and matter does you have the mass and even the center of mass if needed with the "evaluate" function of SolidWorks.
That's the first approach.
Kind regards
