Catpart

Hello, do you know any free software to open catparts and catdrawings?

Hello;

CATPart and CATDrawing are CATIA natives and therefore readable only with CATIA.

Without conversion to a compatible format, no.

No way.

Sorry.

Cédric.

Hello, it's also possible with Edrawings:

http://www.edrawingsviewer.fr/pages/products/eDrawingsForCATIA.html

But it will only be consultation, no modification possible  !

@ Lucas;

Hello, concerning eDrawings, I have the classic version associated with SW but this one does not visualize the native V5 !!

The version you propose is a version of eval?

Only software gateways allow different software to communicate their geometries.
These gateways are professional tools and the market for these software means that the prices are all similar (otherwise, the most expensive ones would already be stopped for lack of sales...).
Datakit is a long-standing player in this market (Dassault Systèmes now also offers similar solutions as options for SolidWorks)

These software programs make it possible to read the files of another software without the risk of geometric errors (often encountered with IGES). On the other hand, none of them proposes to recover the intelligence (functions, parameters, etc.). Modifications are therefore possible but without being able to rely on the original functions and dimensions.
Modifications are possible with function recognition or direct editing tools for example.
Therefore, if a return to the original software is required, it must also be done through a gateway that will again lose the intelligence added to the file.

Basically, if a Catia V5 file is opened in SolidWorks, it has no function or sketches when opened.
As a result of various changes in SolidWorks, opening in Catia will reveal a model that is again featureless.
The author of the file will therefore recover a model that will have lost all intelligence compared to its original file following the various conversions.

In summary, if the modification takes precedence over the intelligence present in the file, there are no major contraindications.
Otherwise, only SolidWorks knows how to modify a SolidWorks file without losing the functions and intelligence (the word SolidWorks can be replaced by any other CAD software)

Hello

Can you specify what your need is?

Is it a one-off event?

Is it a constant need?

if it's punctual we can do it to you svt the size of the file

Hello if it's just to view native 3D CAD (it doesn't read CATDrawing).

You have Delcam Exchange click here.

Free you just have to register.

@dmathieu:

I just remembered that in one of the design offices where I worked, I had installed SPINFIRE.

http://www.viewercao.fr/viewer-spinfire-reader-gratuite

This allowed the people in the Methods and Quality department to open nums (3D / 2D catia) without the need for design technicians!

A good thing because I believe that's what you're trying to do.

Keep me informed. ;)

Cédric.

Hello cedric only spinfirePro allows to read the native.

SpinfireReader (free) only reads the .3D format generated by SpinfirePro or Actify.

I found nothing other than Exchange which visualizes native 3D from almost all publishers (for free).

It will soon be possible on Lynkoa (I'm saying that, I'm not saying anything)

and give the results please.

Hello gt22.

I tested the Tetra4D solutions, we planned to buy a license (2014).

The big interest of this pdf3D solution is for a reduced cost, especially if you already have AcrobatPro, to offer a rather powerful CAD converter and to be able to collaborate from the Acrobat Reader (according to the permissions of the pdf file).

There are trial versions (1 month) click HERE there is a France Antea reseller.

Kind regards

ASCON Licenses 3D_Kernel_IO to improve KOMPAS-3D

1

A few days ago, Russian MCAD software vendor ASCON issued apress release announcing that KOMPAS-3D , the company's flagship MCAD system, can now read proprietary files from CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER (yes, that name is going to stick for a while), and Inventor. This is due to their licensing of a data interchange component called 3D_Kernel_IO Basic Technology (yes, there are two underscores in this brand name).
