Changing the drwdot template of an existing plan

Hello

I frequently use old similar files (3D and MEP) that I export in pack and go before modifying them for a new study. However, since the creation of these old source files, I have modified/corrected the asmdot/prtdot/drwdot templates.

I would like to know if it is possible to change the model that serves as the basis for a drawing and a 3D. If so, how?

Thank you in advance.

Hi

When SOLIDWORKS creates a file from a template, it essentially copies it and then breaks all links, so it isn't possible to change the underlying template.

However, if it is a drawing, it may be that many of the changes you have made are to the sheet format rather than the template. If this is the case, you can apply a newer sheet format.

Right click in empty space in the drawing

Choose properties (you may have to expand the menu)

Click browse and select the new sheet format

Click Apply Changes

If you have a new drawing template you can save a new sheet format from it by going File > Save Sheet Format
