Yes I did the same for my son's name on the door of his room, a design and a personal impression!
For GT22 so the material used remains a simple translucent polycarbonate (17€ for the 1200/600/4mm plate) on the small model and an "altuglass" acrylic for the large format (59€ for the 1200/600/5mm plate. The altuglass allows the reflections of brightness.
The "paper" for the engraving is a 270Gr
edit: FYI the engravings are not super clean because we did a varnish paint test which reacted badly. otherwise the original engraving was perfect starting from a bitmap image.
