How do you calculate the force needed to break a material? (under solidworks)

Hello

I am looking for the necessary compression effort to apply to a cinder block to have it ruptured. Is it possible to do it in solidworks?

Hello

It is not possible to do this in Solidworks for the following reasons

1°) The most important is that solidworks simulation only works in the elastic domain and can say absolutely nothing about the breaking moment, i.e. well beyond the entry into the plastic domain.

2°) A cinder block with a totally inhomogeneous structure with connections between each aggregate that are impossible to model (aggregate of different size and shape, porous structure, and cement bond that is eminently inhomogeneous and variable depending on the manufacturer.

3° Young's modulus and other joys of simulation totally unknown.

4°) Totally impossible to model a structure made of aggregate under SW.

5°)  ETC...

6° ) and even etc... Ect...

Kind regards
