How to Create a Frame on Solidworks Composer

Hi all

I am currently designing a configurator via dialer, and I would like to create a "framework".  Let me explain, my goal is actually to have only one area in my A4 format (more precisely a circle, see attached file) where the product appears, the rest will be information as well as the buttons to change colors. I don't want the product to get out of this circle... How to do it?

Thank you in advance

Hello

Maybe using the Digester

See attached file view 2

Nothing to do with the digger;) I would like a circle, but it can also be another shape...

Hello

For my part, when I want to create framed views, I use the detail view option in the workshops panel. This option creates a vector image that you can frame with a circle, a square, and see the shape you want by creating custom alphas. On the other hand, these images remain static. To change the color of your product, you can take multiple views of your product details in different colors and link to views that collaborate differently.

Hello

Could one possibility be to insert 2D images in the foreground to "dress" your frame and thus leave only a window?

I haven't found how to make a circle because Composer doesn't support the PNG format but I offer you attached a rectangular window.

To try to make sure that your model doesn't go out of the frame you have to block Zoom, pan etc in the viewport (see view 3).

Let's see if it can suit you.

For your information, in what format do you plan to publish your configurator?

Thank you for your answers.

We're getting closer to what I'd like... According to my memories it would be necessary to insert an image (with a black area, the one where the product will be located) and to make this black area transparent, in order to leave the product visible...

To do this kind of thing you must first create 2 image files:

  • A foreground image
  • a B&W mask to make certain areas of the foreground image transparent

Below is an example of a foreground image (television.jpg):

And an example of a mask image (masque.jpg):

What's in black will be completely transparent in Composer.

All that remains is to import these 2 images into Composer via the "2D image" tool by configuring the image properties in this way:

Now 3D can only be viewed in the ultra-modern TV used for this example!

Ps: attached are the images to try it out for yourself.

A+
