On standard SolidWorks 2011, how do I create a decal from a PNG or JPEG photo?
Hello
See here:
Save a custom decal
You can create a custom decal by editing an existing decal, or by using a custom image to define it.
- Use the Decals PropertyManager to edit an existing decal or search for a new image.
- On the Image tab , click Save Decal.
- Click Save.
The folder where the file is saved is added to System Options > File Locations > Custom Decals.
- If you see a message asking if you want the folder to be visible in the Decals folder in the task pane, answer Yes.
The folder appears in the task pane. System folders are yellow. Folders that contain custom decals are blue.

I was able to create the decals folder where I have my image but it hasn't converted and I don't have my hand on it to insert it? I also have no function to save.
@adelval
On your preview, I don't have the impression that the "PhotoView 360" add-on is activated.
To apply a decal, this add-in must be activated (in tool/add-ins).
See these tutorials

@PhilippeB don't need Photoview 360 to put decals, it's possible as standard but you have to activate the real view.
@adelval do you manage to set the decals by default?

EDIT: ha no no no need for real view...
Excuse me, I wasn't available lately. Yes, I can put the decals by default.
I'm going to watch the tutorials and let you know if I succeeded.
Thank you all
I succeeded with the tutorial thanks for the links.
