How do I create an assembly "template" that can be inserted into another assembly?

Hi all

I would like to create a "model" type assembly, i.e. an assembly that, when I insert it into another assembly, I can modify some parameters of it without affecting the original model. And if I insert 2 of them in the same assembly, let the 2 no longer have any links.

It seems to me that it is possible to do this kind of manipulation with EPDM by making a design copy. But is it possible to do it without?

Like I create an assembly, I insert a component, and I can change it as I wish.

(I don't want to go through configurations or a family of parts)

Thank you!

You would have to go through the take-home composition. Save to a new folder, change a letter and/or add a prefix.

Then insert the new assembly (or replace it if it has already been inserted)

Tip top! I didn't measure the power of the composition to take away, thank you:)

Haha, power as you say ^^.

On the other hand, I must have gotten a little carried away. As long as you make the name change via the take-home comp, you don't need to save in a new folder

Exactly, yes, thank you!

I'm continuing my research but it would be great if I could create a "component" type part that reacts like a temporary file (saving in .prtdot), so after inserting my component in my assembly, I could make my changes and automatically save the part under another name.

It seems that there is a MyCadTools utility that could do this: CloneConponents

There, you are venturing into lands too dark for me! :s
