How do you create a knurling on a flat surface? In SOLIDWORKS 2014

Hello, Is it for a simple representation or a 3D knurling?

Either with a "pattern" type appearance, or by modeling them.

in surface condition via an appearance it is much simpler and less heavy

As I indicated in the 1st link given by remrem :

it can be done with a surface finish from the appearances tab of the Property Manager as shown here:

Or by applying an apprence: Miscellaneous/Pattern/Embossing
