How do you manage the backup and synchronization of your files

Hi all

For those who don't use PDM, how do you manage the backup of your CAD data and other documents?

Copy when you think about it? Automatically scheduled copy? Daily synchronization? real-time synchronization? working on the cloud?

Hard disk? NAS server? Online subscription? Subscription with a professional provider?

I'm curious to have feedback on your different experiences, to improve the security of my data!

Hello

I use the standard Windauze function.

On the other hand, you have to define how many versions you want to keep, otherwise you only have the last one.

You can also only keep the temporary area managed by SW which keeps you as many versions as you want.

For my complex sets I do pack and go from time to time.

Kind regards

Hello

Now I use the PDM with VM replication.
but before, it was VM replication + HDD backup 1 time a week + personal solution, without the approval of the IT department, a synchronization with a NAS.

It depends on the volume to be backed up, on the need to go back to a previous version.

As our files are finally archived by the client, we are satisfied with storage on a NAS that is backed up every evening.
Depending on the case, a zip is created to keep the state of the file at a given time, before a design change for example...

@Zozo_mp

What's the standard version you're talking about?

Hello @Icome

For W10 in the start menu ==> Settings ==> Update and security ==> Backup ==> more options ==> Backup option ==> you will then arrive at the attached image

Kind regards

On the other hand, what and where does it save? :/

The problem is always to anticipate a hardware incident, for example: hard drive that burns, or even worse, desktop that burns!
