The xml link list allows you to create properties that are specific to each variable in your list.

Basically, you create a list of variables containing for example

Part, assembly and then you can assign properties specific to these 2 variables (part and assembly for example a specific numbering for parts of type PI-00001 and AS-0001 for assemblies)

And if you don't want to have to reselect between part and assembly the next time you launch the smartproperties, you have to check in parameter/Input mask and check Use a dynamic property of the input mask.

Can we use the same mask for an assembly and for a part, for I don't need to fill the same property multiple times?

Example: fill in the customer's name only in the part and I automatically find it in the assembly?
