How do you model this twisted wire?

I have a problem with this twisted wire, I can't model the twist on the attached image. Could someone enlighten me?

Hello

Try to make a loop (a U with a sweep) and you twist it with the bending tool, twist option, on itself. I did it quickly, it seems to work.

Hello, this should be possible by doing a sweep with a curve as a guide and the section of your wire as a profile.

That's true, but the guide curve will be in 3D sketch... not easy I'm afraid. But possible!

Make a "U"  shape with the yarn, then use the "twist/bending" function.

@tferrant

I would like to see if possible how you do it via the twist tool

a screenshot would have been nice for my taste

Yes indeed

but we are far from the original basic part

I have also tried it myself and I don't think it is suitable for the present case

but despite my X attempts I didn't find  anything very conclusive

even by shifting the adjustment plans

it's not perfect I agree... There are some improvements to be made...

future version for me so I don't see anything;-(

For the cannonballs that don't have SW2014....;)

So for the most realistic representation, it will be necessary, as I indicated, to create a 3D sketch of an ellipse, create a profile of the section of the wire, make a sweep following the ellipse curve, then make a symmetry of this body to have the other part, and finally close the upper part with a 180° revolution. Tutorials for SolidWorks ellipses are easily found on Google.
