I'm in engineering school and as part of a project I have to design a boat hull with CATIA.
I don't know what tools to use in CATIA and the method to use to make my case. I think you have to draw the pairs of the hull in parallel planes but I don't know how to create my surface afterwards, once all the couples are created. How can I define a surface that passes through all the pairs of the boat?
As you said, you need to draw your couples on parallel planes and then you use the GSD: Generative Shape Design workshop to create surface surfaces, therefore without thickness, that you can thicken and change to volume as needed. If it's just to have the shape or the overall rendering of the boat, you might as well leave it on the surface.
Sorry if it's a duplicate of the tutorials (youtube is blocked on my post).
I would have started by making a surface of the shell by smoothing (possibly in several elements assembled according to the complexity). Then we can use this surface to limit the torques.
