Hi all

Here's a quick refresher on how to create and store your custom materials in SolidWorks?

Reminder:

The material base is made up of a multitude of folders and materials, the first thing is to find your way around.

The yellow backrests, correspond to the standard SolidWorks materials

Green folders correspond to the "bonus" materials of sustainability

And the blue folders, correspond to your personalized library.

Step 1: Create your material database

Right-click on one of the library folders and select "New Library".

If there are several of you in the design office, consider pooling it on the network.

Step 2 : Organize your database

Once your database is created, organize it well, to do this create categories. (Ex: Steel, Aluminum)

Segment the way you want

Step 3: Copy and Edit a Material

Then make a copy of a nearby material, and adapt it to your needs. (Ex: 304L stainless steel to a 316L).

All you have to do is right-click on the material in question and copy it to the desired location.

thank you for your answers especially GT22, I followed the steps, but I take the example of the configuration of a new material 'marble', in the end once applied it does not give the desired appearance but rather a color of some kind.

Hello

This is to be set in the appearance parameters of the material.

Kind regards.

Hello

It would rather be a display problem looked at on the side of the display states and tries a CTRL + Q to force the display to refresh otherwise a simple close and reopen :)

hello MaD, I tried ctrl+ Q and the closure nothing helps.
