Hello everyone,
I'm currently in the middle of transitioning from CATIA V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE, and I'm trying to find the best methodology to replicate a specific workflow that I often used in the V5 Assembly Design Workshop.
In CATIA V5: In the Assembly workbench, we could insert Components (non-structural containers, without a file of our own) within the Main Product. We used these components to group specific parts and subassemblies to represent a particular state or configuration. When creating a plane (Drafting), we just had to select this specific Component to generate our views (Isometric, Face, Sections, etc.) representing exactly this configuration.
Example of structure in V5:
- Main Product
- Component 1 (Config 1: Part A + Part B in position X)
- Component 2 (Config 2: Part A + Part B in position Y)
My question for 3DEXPERIENCE: What is the best practice or equivalent tool in 3DEXPERIENCE to achieve this?
Since the data model has changed (with Physical Products, Representations, and the disappearance of the classic "Component" as it existed in V5), should I turn to Filters, Engineering Configurations, Review Assemblies, or even to several separate Physical Products ?
How do you handle this when you want to display different configurations of the same assembly in your 2D drawings?
Thank you in advance for your feedback and advice!
Sincerely,
