File Server Hardware Configuration

Hello

We are 2 (soon to be 3) in our design office and we are considering changing the machine that houses our assemblies.

For the moment we are using a Seagate NAS with a 7200t/m hard drive connected in gigabit ethernet to the 2 PCs

When opening a solidworks assembly, the owner of the nas goes up to 100% (To create the temporary files I think) which slows down the opening

We are going to invest in a server to overcome this problem but I don't know how to define:

-Number of processor cores

-Processor frequency

-Amount of Ram

-Hard drive or SSD

-Disk only or RAID

Thank you in advance.

Hello

I would be tempted to answer that if you have the means to put an SSD RAID, you should not deprive yourself!

After I don't know exactly what the recommendations are...
