Hi all
I plan to buy a laptop (max budget 1300€) powerful enough to use Catia and Solidworks without problem. I don't play games, but I regularly photoshop and play music on my computer, but I want a light and stylish laptop. Two models tempt me:
1) Asus Zenbook UX410UQ-GV159T https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B072M6RPYX/ref=asc_df_B072M6RPYX45451773/?tag=laptop022-21&creative=22950&creativeASIN=B072M6RPYX&linkCode=df0
14-inch, i7-7500U, 16GB RAM, 500GB + 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
2) Asus Zenbook Flip UX360UAK-DQ299T http://www.darty.com/nav/achat/informatique/ordinateur_portable/portable_hybride/asus_ux360uak-dq299t.html?dartycid=aff_269849_comp_4310616&awc=7735_1503831997_2d0e12d242d827f090476ad6bbc945c9
13.3 inches, i7-7500U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, HD Graphics 620, touchscreen and can be rotated 320°.
Do these two configurations allow you to run Catia and SW without any problem? Which one would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!
Lucas
To me, the screens seem small to use SW and Catia, but the advantage of Zenbooks is how light they are.

Generally Laptops are not really built for CAD
Nevertheless you can watch this
http://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html
It also depends on the SW version you want to run and the complexity of your sets
As far as the graphics card is concerned, neither of them is solidworks compatible

Look carefully if the sonr graphics cards are certified and compatible with SW / CATIA
http://www.solidworks.fr/sw/support/videocardtesting.html
if not certified bug insure
for these logs you need workstations
and a screen worthy of the name in addition
There is a maximum of communication threads on the sw PCs on the forum

Hello
I agree with Alain, the size of the screens is too small. If I were you, I would look for at least 15.6 inches. In addition, small and powerful PCs are often overpriced for what they are, but that's my opinion.
Personally I celui_çi: https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/ordinateurs-pc-portables/asus-r558ur-dm480t-intel-core-i7-7500u-8-go-1-to/f-1070992-asu4712900649543.html#mpos=14|mp
And if you want to stay with Asus:

Hello CATIA
None of these configurations are certified.
The same goes for graphics cards.
Unless someone has already installed CATIA on one of them, I don't think anyone will be able to certify that CATIA or SW is running properly
If you have a maintenance contract for this software (the support may not help you).
From my point of view I would tend to prefer the first one
Matte Screen
This is not the case with the tactil.
On the other hand, the use of a CAD software without a numeric keypad is very restrictive.

I agree with franck.ceroux for the numeric keypad but it can be found for about ten euros in the shop:)
The numeric keypad is the right part of normal keyboards, right?
