Hello, I would like to have your opinion for a solidworks configuration.
My brother has started working in boilermaking and he tells me that he needs a
Laptop to run Solidworks.
As it moves often, it must be portable and cheap because it will risk storing it in places with a lot of traffic
(no computer for 1500 euros in a dormitory room).
So I was planning to give him my old PC and here is the configuration:
intel core i7 3630QM 2.40 GHZ - 6GB RAM - GeForce GTX 670 3GB dedicated.
Windows 8.1
Basically, it's for his studies and if he has to open assemblies of 30 rooms it will be the end of the world I think!
Will this be enough for you for say 2 years?
Thank you in advance for your insights!
Yes no worries, I have an AMD with 4GB and Windows 7 and SolidWorks runs correctly on it.
Ok even with the 2016 version?
Yes yes I am in SW2016 EDUC
Pretty stable, not too much crash
The GeForce is not a "certified" card, that's the only tricky point.
To handle small assemblies it should be able to pass.
@Alain: What graphics card do you have?
gt22
7
@ stefbeno for info ;-)
Yes his card is not certified
but via its proc it has an integrated HD Graphic 4000 Intel
so it is certified so it passes for the base of SW 2014
