Hello
I would like to buy a PC to use Solidworks, I would like to know if the gaming laptops are efficient enough?
For example: https://www.electrodepot.fr/portable-17-3-hp-17-w030nf-nr-rg-1lz82ea-abf.html
Thank you for your help.

Hello
I don't recommend gaming PCs because the graphics cards are not certified by SolidWorks. You have to see on the Solidworks website for the minimum requirements for a laptop.
Here are 3 certified configs, it can give you an idea and indeed, gaming PCs don't have a CAD graphics card based on the opengl...
Good evening
You also have MSI who makes really nice workstations.
https://fr.msi.com/Workstations
I've had one for 2 years and I must admit that I'm still amazed by the performances.
It's a WT60 20J that I have, I added some RAM (32 Giga) and I replaced the original hard disk with an SSD and moved the original disk by 1 Tera to the second port. For the office, I got a 27-inch screen for more comfort.
This type of PC is not at all intended for gaming, although it can be done by reducing the quality. Some titles require a specific driver version that is slow to arrive on quadro.
The price is also not the same:)
The only sin of my PC is the Quadro K2100M graphics card which drags the dough a bit when you start to simulate assemblies or display large assemblies. You have to set SW to optimize the opening of files.
I have much less display problems on Inventor than on SW (code can be better optimized?) even on large assemblies (I had fun opening a demo assembly of about 2000 parts on Inventor and SW, the display is relatively fluid on Inventor and lags on SW)
My personal opinion on buying a workstation (it's only my opinion):
A workstation is not a gaming PC, it will not be changed every year or two.
I'd rather save money and get a very good PC and not be limited than keep a cheaper PC and row to work. It is a working tool.
Computer technology is moving faster than CAD software technology and therefore, for me, buying a more advanced PC is an investment in the long term.
Kind regards.
See this site that offers workstations to be able to work on SW

Better a good second-hand station that works well than a gaming laptop that won't work properly
