Configure "use in BOM"

Hi all

I have a family of parts that has been created for a long time and I don't want to redo it (loss of constraint in many existing assemblies) but I want to put a configuration-dependent description in the assembly BOMs.

The problem is that I can't find the variable to put in a part family to configure the "use in BOM" checkbox  .

Does anyone know her?

Hello

Can this link answer your question:

http://help.solidworks.com/2013/French/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_DT_Global_Variables.htm

Thank you for your answer, @vspemens,

but a priori it doesn't meet my expectations; I tried with

$valeur@description

instead of $description in the family of parts and it doesn't work.

Anyone else? Or another idea?

Hello

Why not add a property that depends on the configuration, all you have to do is retrieve this property from the nomenclature.

may the force be with you.

@ObiWan, thank you for your suggestion.

The problem is that I already have these parts in many assembly drawings with BOM and I would have to change the BOM template for each of these drawings with this method, so it's a bit too tedious (almost as tedious as taking each config and checking the box in question).

Thank you anyway.

It's been a while since I've played with the families of rooms, but:

If you check the "do not use" box by specifying "only this config" in the drop-down menu.

When you edit your room family, it should offer you a new option in your room family table.

At the time, there was a dialog box that listed:

the new configs not integrated in the table

new settings that are not common to all configs.

Hello

to make it work; you have to check use in the nomenclature then you click just below on properties customize and you create one with the name "Description" then you add a column to your nomenclature then in property customize you search for description and this value will be displayed in the nomenclature... You have to create this custom property "Description" so that the nomenclature can create a link....

@pascal, I don't understand where we can check the box you're talking about?

Thank you @ac cobra 427, it gave me the solution.

It creates a $PROPRIETE@description column in the family table and I can fill this column with a formula to create the custom designation of the config.

In any case, thank you all for your answers.
