Recommended: Which CAD software for fine jewelry?

Hi all

Currently looking for a job for a position as a CAD draftsman, I am often asked for interviews for this position & sector (without ending up :s), where I learned that the software they use is solidworks or rhinoceros 3d.

Knowing that solidworks is perhaps less suitable than rhinoceros 3d, but that it is also well appreciated in this sector for its customizable side I would say!

I also know that rhinoceros has a module called: rhinogold, which seemed very useful to me I would say, for these options of European standards etc ...

I would like to know which software I "FOCUS" on to do high jewelry CAD?

Thank you.

Kind regards.

Hello

As far as I know, there are many software programs that compete with each other in the field. It all depends on what you're targeting, movement design or dressing?

In Geneva, when I was applying for the movement design part, I was regularly asked for one of these:

- Creo

- Tell Watch

- Rhinoceros 3D

- Solidworks (less and less for movement)

I found this one too without knowing it:

In the Paris region, the 3 most used software for CAD in High Jewelry are:

Solidworks

Rhinoceros 3D

3D design (medium jewelry)

Solidworks is more appreciative for customer modifications which are more and more numerous, As for RhinoGold you should not count on it for high jewelry, it is perfect for making small jewelry but it is too restrictive for high jewelry pieces and is not used in high jewelry.

Between the two it's your choice, there are just as many companies that search on solid as on rhino but very few that do both, it's up to you to see which software you are most comfortable with.

Thank you all for your answers. (I'm from the Paris region, from the 95)

When you say, @Kloffel movement design or dressing, I don't really understand.

When you say, @alexandreleroux18 client modification, okay, but other software can do it, right?

As far as Solidworks is concerned, many companies that have contacted me use Solidworks but also Rhinoceros on the side! (knowing that Rhinoceros is not mentioned in the job ad!), I have a hard time seeing how they can design high-jewelry pieces with Solidworks!

I saw that with Rhinogold, you can do really incredible things with it! And it can also be combined with Rhinoceros. There are also modeling modules like Clayoo which allows you to do really amazing things combined with Rhinogold/Rhinoceros.
