Tips on 3D modeling complex locks

Hello

I am Guillaume, a 35-year-old locksmith in the Limousin. I am interested in 3D modeling to design complex locks, especially for prototyping and optimization of mechanisms.

What software and methods do you recommend for this type of work? Feedback to share?

Thank you for your advice.

Hello Guillaume_Vincent and welcome to the forum,

AR.

Solidworks can be used to design a lock from A to Z with the kinematics if necessary, the different metal parts from machining or sheet metal, manufacturing drawings...
It's still a fairly intuitive software for a beginner in 3D drawing and it's pretty well documented online.
On the other hand, is it the most suitable software for this type of design, I don't know anything not knowing this job. (designing a lock...)

As for the locks, " I have my shirt on, but it's too soft."  :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
