Can we set the groove constraint to default to "centered in groove"?

Yes by default it is put in the middle, but in automatic I'm not sure.

In the 2020 version, the default option is centered if you use automatic positioning. There are several choices, centered, not centered, etc...
In the 2019 version and before, the part is positioned in the middle of the groove but it is not constrained by default in the direction of the length in automatic.
If you want to center it automatically (without any other constraint on a plane or dimension) you have to use ==> Mechanical constraint ==> Groove ==> (open constraints) and replace "Free" with "centered". You should be able to create a keyboard shortcut to open faster

In the 2018 version, it was not put in the middle by default but where it falls at the time of constraint.
