I have inventor files from a subcontractor that according to him can be opened in solidworks.
I use Catia and CREO for R&D and then the industry works on solidworks 2016. So so far so good.
Solidworks requires you to install inventor to be able to open the files. So we just install the viewer.
After several unsuccessful attempts, we open the inventor file with the viewer and then the same solidworks and there miraculously the file opens.
I save the file in step with both type 214 and 203.
There I open the file 214 which is empty under catia and then the 203 which loads the parts well.
Cool I passed my attempts.
So I continue with other elements and there the drama is nothing empty. Same operation, we find the problem in all directions, still nothing. Even in Creo
So if you had this problem thank you for your help
Small question, probably very stupid but still.... rather than switching from a software whose NAFIT format is not in the NAFIT format to transform it into a STEP and then send it to another software to rework it.
So why not ask the supplier directly to transform his Inventor file into a STEP? Normally Inventor knows how to do it just as well as Solidworks ;)
I finally found the problem. When recording the step, the 3D is outside the solidworks space which is limited to 1000m. As he cannot find a reference point, he probably considers the room in infinity. So I inserted a coordinate system marker and when saving the step this time it has a repository.
Do you think the system will notify us at check-in? No. Problem solved by reopening the step in the solidworks environment to make sure it knows how to open it itself. This was not the case.
Catia simply opens a boot file on behalf of the step file
Creo the same
Solidworks does not open anything but informs us that the part is outside the boundary space
