Hello, I'm facing a big problem which is actually quite simple I guess... I want to dimension a part in a drawing but I can't position the dimension as I want.

The problem is this: I created an extrusion and then I put leaves on the edges so I would like to be able to put a dimension between the old edges.

I guess it's possible because when I dimension the part with the "model objects" functions, the dimension appears, but when I try to arrange the dimension manually, it's impossible to find the right length. I tried to modify the attachment lines or press "SHIFT" by selecting the arcs but nothing helped.

I attach an image to illustrate my problem, on the right the dimension well positioned thanks to "objects of the model" on the left the dimensions badly positioned.

Thank you in advance.

Hello

You have to extend the 2 edges by selecting them and then inserting a sketch point:

Then you can set your dimension on this point of intersection:

Kind regards

Hello, I used this method but it's relatively long and not practical...

I thought there was a setting or function to enable to detect the center point.

Thank you anyway!

This is the only method I know of... relatively long and not very practical : don't exaggerate too much though, it takes 1s to create the intersection ...

It's not the sea to drink I grant but on catia or top solid we detect the points automatically... It's immediately much faster^^

Hello

You choose your dimensioning tool, you right-click on the first edge, then "intersection search" and then you click on your second edge.

It's not completely automatic but you avoid having to create an additional sketch.

Thank you very much, that's smart! Even if it's not automatic, it's still more practical than with the sketch.

Yes it's well seen, it's the shortcut (or automation) of the solution proposed earlier, I didn't know it ...
