Hello
Do you manage to take a dimension with the measuring tool (the small meter)?
And if you convert both plans it doesn't work?
@OBI WAN,
Yes, I can take a dimension with the measure tool (by selecting the planes directly in the tree or by selecting directly on the drawing).
@manu67,
What do you mean by "convert"?
I have the impression that the view is not exactly in front of me! It can happen in being visible.
Is it possible to create a new view, being normal to the face and insert this new view and test the dimension?
Or it is the parts or sub-assemblies that are not well constrained!
I'm drying, to find the parts, if you can put them.
A solution you could put a dot on each plane and rate the dot point.
@.pl that's also my impression, but it can be dimensioned with the measuring tool
That's when I don't understand anymore, he can quote one way but not another?
You click on it like in the RX but you have the antities converted to create a sketch of your plans and there you score.
@.PL,
I considered this option but checked all the sketches and constraints and found nothing. On the other hand, I will try to redo the parts because if I constrain room 2 in relation to room 1, it is the plane of room 2 that I cannot select and vice versa (if I constrain room 1 in relation to room 2, it is the plane of room 1 that I cannot select).
@OBI WAN,
I don't want to use points because I have a macro that values against shots.
I don't understand either because inserting a dimension in the 3D works but not in the 2D and the measurement works but not the dimensioning...
@manu67,
I couldn't find the convert function. Also, I'd like it to work with the shots so I can use my macro.
Thank you for your research! :)
you click on your two planes and then you go to tools==>sketching tools==>convert the anteities
I can't convert datum planes: When I click on the plane in the tree view (or directly on the drawing), it doesn't add to the "Features to convert" selection.
Is it possible to provide us with the documents I am looking at?, I would really like to understand.
Same as Obi Wan...
Unfortunately, I cannot provide the documents for confidentiality reasons.
Attached is a file with two parts, an assembly and a drawing.
I added reference planes in the parts and I have the same problem as in my assembly: I can only select one of the two planes to add a dimension in the 2D but it works in the 3D.
indeed it doesn't work, on the other hand I reproduced the same assembly at home and it works, can you control it at home?
I can't open the parts and assembly.
Which version of solidworks are you using? (I'm on the 2012).
Thanks, but the blueprints do not appear in the tree since the parts are imported functions. And I can't do any recognition of functions.
It's really a crazy thing, I can't rate the front view, on the other hand I put a top view and there no problem to dimension. Then by clicking +ctrl on the dimension in top view I manage to replace it on the front view. ??????
Yes it's really weird, it does the same thing to me (whether it's on the assembly with the two parts or my complete assembly): I can add the dimension between the two planes on the top view but not on the front one!
I found the solution to the problem and it was very simple...
The parts must not be fixed but constrained in relation to the basic plans of the file.
If one of the pieces is fixed, it is impossible to put the desired dimension.
Have a nice day.
