Local section on an auxiliary view

Hello

I'm trying to make a local cut on an auxiliary view, I don't understand where solidworks takes the origin of the cut for the distance...

Thank you for your help!

It is true that we wonder where Solidworks is getting the origin of the distance, it must have a twisted mind.

Creating a Local Section View

To create a local section:

  1.  Click Local tool_Broken_Out_Section_Drawing.gif Cut (Drawing toolbar) or Insert >  Drawing View > Local Section. The pointer takes the form pointer_add_curves_freeform.gif.

If you want a profile other than a spline, create and select a closed profile before clicking the Local Cut tool .

  2. Sketch a profile.
  3. Set the options in the Section View dialog box. If you do not want to exclude components or hardware from the local cut, click OK.
  4. Set the options in the Local Trim PropertyManager .

Use the 3D Drawing View mode to select a hidden edge for the depth of a local section view.

  5. Click . PM_OK.gif

Actually or ???

My trick I ask for a cut by clicking on an edge then I check the preview box theoretically  the distance box becomes gray with a value. I remove the edge and there the distance box becomes white and I can play with the + or – to vary the depth of cut.

May the force be with you

Isn't it based on the cube containing the coin?

But in general, I prefer to base myself on an edge, I'm sure it will follow in case of modification.
