Part Family Cannot Create on Solidworks 2010 SP5.0

Hello

I have a problem that I find on other positions of my company, is that when I create a new part and I want to create a family of parts, it doesn't matter?

I wonder if there isn't something missing in the Solidworks settings that is blocking the creation of the part family?

If you have an idea, I'm interested !!

Hello

You can try to reset the settings to default with my tutorial:

http://www.lynkoa.com/tutos/3d/reinitialiser-les-parametres-solidworks

On the other hand, if I remember correctly, there is an incompatibility between a certain version of SolidWorks and a certain version of Microsoft Office.

Thank you for your answer, on the other hand there is no link to your tutorial!!

I think that resetting everything to zero is not the best solution because I already have a lot of settings right now, however, I would try because it can tell me if in the case of a default reset of the settings does it work again.

What version of Office do you have?

Yes, the purpose of the tutorial is to see if the problem comes from a SolidWorks configuration. It took me a while to find the link to the tutorial.

There is an incompatibility between SolidWorks 2010 and Excel 2010 and later.

Thanks for the link, I'll look into it.

Otherwise for my version of Office, it's 2003, and so I have Excel 2003.

I don't think it comes from Excel or its version but rather from Solidworks, because if for example I open a part that already has a family of parts to create, I can edit it and complete it or modify it.

In fact, Excel 2003 is not fully compatible with SolidWorks 2010. This problem is known: it is impossible to create a new part family in automatic creation.

You have to choose a file even if it's empty.

See this tutorial

for the problem of compatibility of SW with excel since according to the words a family of parts works

If you take over a family of existing parts that you make a copy

and recreate the right settings for your new room family

I think it's playable, at least no risk to try

Hello;

I advise you, and this is valid for all users, to regularly save your settings in separate files (by dates?).

-> Start menu/solidworks 20xx/Solidworks Tools/Wizard to copy settings

Maclane, I'm already using the settings copy to quickly restore and back them up.

Gt22, I also thought about this to get by, otherwise I can also create my part on a pc or it works from my colleagues and reopen my part on my pc, but it's a bit of DIY. I try to understand the origin of the problem and how to solve it.

@DreamBen

see this link compatibilities between SW and windaube and office

Ok I'll look at it on Monday if I have time at work, but for now I'm enjoying my week :)

Thanks for the research!!

Well, I tried to apply the update, but it's not compatible with my computer.

The best solution to easily overcome the problem without too much tinkering is to use an excel file by default (see attachment).

And to put the "From file" option and select this file to start its part family, as shown opposite.

I hope it will be useful for other people.

Thank you to everyone for their help.
