Creating a CAD catalog

Hi everyone

I have a project to create a catalog of CAD springs on solidworks,

My goal is, from an excel file that contains all the characteristics of my springs, to extract the data that interests me in order to modify my basic spring that I have already drawn on solidworks and then to automate the process

As I speak to you, I don't have many ideas:)

All yours are welcome, I am open to anything

Thanks in advance!

see this tutorial it's magic ;-)

With this tutorial you will be able to once create your spring modify it as you wish

-in compression
-in diameter
-and in section

which by this fact minimizes the design of parts and therefore of your libraries

Otherwise, I created a group on libraries:

Thank you for your answers,

maybe my question is too broad, what I want is to program my sketch so that I can change the dimensions without touching it and finally to automate the process for all the springs of my excel file, I have seen on other forums people talking about VBA on solidworks but I don't know much about it

someone would have a good tutorial on VBA solidworks

Thank you

Hello

Several possibilities more or less automated, normally basic the family of parts could meet the need otherwise yes via vba there are things that are feasible but require a lot of time and clear ideas on how you want to work (from excel, directly from sw ...)

Hello

Yes, indeed you have to create a family of parts:

PS

on the tutorial posted http://www.lynkoa.com/tutos/3d/creer-un-ressort-variable-avec-deplacement-realiste-sous-solidworks

Nothing prevents you from creating a part family via Exell

you just have to name all the odds that need to mutate ;-)
