Creation of a 3D part from an excel table or other

Hello

Best wishes to all.
For this new year I would like to be able to create a 3D piece from a painting, let me explain.
In my company we have standardized our tool elements (rectangular plate), the profile of the parts remains the same and we will only change the length and width, the position of the holes, the number of holes and the Ø of the holes.
In a table I would like to choose my type of plate (which will define the general profile), my block (which will define the length, width of the plate and position of the holes) and finally, the number and Ø of the holes (small precision, the Ø is the same for all the holes).
I don't know if it's clear to you. Do not hesitate to ask me for more details.

Thanks in advance

Hello
It's funny, I had the same problem yesterday.

We have to look at the families of parts in SW.

I found this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eokcJwr03qY
It helped me get started.

Otherwise there is also this one:

But I haven't watched it yet...

Good luck...

Hello;

I confirm.
→ Parts family may be associated with Configuration-Publisher...
See Solidworks Help here: configuration_publisher
… Please note that the configuration of the holes (Drilling Wizard) depends on your version of Solidworks (common problems if Solidworks < 2018).

Kind regards.

Thank you for your answers. I just tested part family but I just encountered the problem that some people have, it's when I do OK no EXCEL sheet opens (I'm in SW2021 and office 2019.

Ahhhh Excel!! (Sigh)

To make it as simple as possible:
Open a new sheet in Excel, save it in an easy-to-find place, then from Solidworks, in the parts families, use the option from the file...
Do not check " Link to File "
image
=> point to your new Excel Sheet...

To put it at least simply:
Check your Office licenses, they should be in 64bit (office 365).
Otherwise you are good for a reinstallation of Office (in PC mode and not on-line)
In the best of all worlds, that should be enough. Otherwise reinstall/repair Silodowrks as well.

And even this does not guarantee compatibility between Excel and Solid...
See all questions about this.

Kind regards.

I confirm what Maclane writes, I had the same problem last year my Excel was in 32bit... Redoing the installation in 64bit solved the problem.

Kind regards
