Hello
You have to copy a SW appearance of the paint type and then modify the color with the RGB values that you can find on this site:
http://www.pats.ch/formulaire/unites/unites11.aspx
White 9003: 255,255,255
Purple 4006: 145,15,102
Hello
See the interesting information in this question:
http://www.lynkoa.com/forum/3d/apparences-de-couleur-ral-pour-sw
In particular this file that can be used directly in SolidWOrks:
http://www.lynkoa.com/sites/default/files/questions/answer/28/05/2014/apparence_ral.rar
@Tomalam, thank you but I don't understand how to get the "shiny" effect
@Pl, yes I used this method but I don't get a good rendering for the color Violet: RAL 4006 Pantone 2405 C
http://www.pats.ch/formulaire/unites/unites11.aspx
https://www.e-paint.co.uk/Lab_values.asp?cRange=RAL%20Classic&cRef=RAL%204006&cDescription=Traffic%20purple
I get different RGBs according to these 2 sites for the Ral 4006
Hello Aurélien,
Simply because it's subjective. Transforming a paint color into a light color is not an exact science.
There's this converter to test: http://web.forret.com/tools/color.asp
Oh exactly, after some research, the internal charter defines the 4006 as 176, 0, 142!
Mias regarding an appearance, if I want to create my 4006 paint appearance, I need to go to the appearances folder, rename it and edit it?
Just a remark, our screens are rarely (ever?) calibrated to give an exact color rendering.
So don't be surprised that between 2 workstations (or even 2 screens on the same workstation) there are differences with a color chart placed next to it, I'm not talking about having a photo placed next to the screen as a reference...
Yes yes quite @stefbeno, my comparison is made on the same screen with different tabs ;)!
On the other hand, what is surprising is that you don't have the 9003 white created by default!
I admit that I don't understand very well, I added the ral files in the appearances folder: C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\data\graphics\materials\Painted
But I can't find them on SW even after a restart....
Hello
For your information, the ColortChart tool from myCADtools has Pantone, RAL and RGB color charts, just choose the color chart and drag on the part, face, assembly...
Have a nice day
Mick
Here are all the RAL appearances in SW format.
I'm looking for the link from which I downloaded these skins...

Hi Aurélien,
Regarding your problem of appearance not visible in SW, you have to go to the SW taskpane on the right, you click on the Appearances tab, you click on add a file location, you add the folder that contains the subfolders of RAL and you validate.
Your folder does not need to be in the SOLIDWORKS installation folder.
Good luck
Mick
