Create a property from a welded part property with Smartproperties

Hello

I would like to create a new property on my part that would be a copy of a property from the welded parts list. (there is only one piece welded)

I'd like to copy the "Description" property that we see below

I would like to use "Creating a property on the linked document" from SmartProperties because it says that it is possible to "assign a property on the part to part of a welded part part".

However I don't know what to fill in in the "property to copy" field, I tried to enter Description but it doesn't work ...
There must be a way to specify where to get the property.

Thank you for your help

Adding a property of a welded part part is only possible if this property exists in your welded part part

If no properties are present in your welded item you have no properties that have been recovered.
For Description you need a Description property in your welded parts article.
Here with a right click on my article and then property, I find the DESCRIPTION property for my article and therefore the possibility of retrieving it via the smartproperties.

the property exists so I should be able to retrieve it, however the " profile " property I want to create at the room level does not appear after validating the SmartProperties mask

In addition, the analysis of @sbadenis that it is also necessary that the welded parts list is up to date.

I would add that Smartproperties' conditions regarding the retrieval of the Property of the referenced document are still restrictive.

  • If the active document is a drawing, the property is retrieved from the 3D model and assigned to the drawing.

  • If the active document is a welded part and the selection is a welded part part, the property is retrieved from the 3D model and assigned to the selected welded part part.

  • If the active document is a mechanically welded part and the selection is a part, the property is retrieved from the first welded part article and assigned to the 3D document.

  • If the active document is an assembly and the selection is a component of the assembly, the assembly property is retrieved and assigned to the selected document.

Only the property of the first article of the welded part is recoverable in a part (and even then I'm not sure that it works in this way, the text is not very clear in my eyes).
Otherwise it's rather the opposite path (part to mechanically welded).

At least that's what I understood.
A request to the hotline is probably necessary...

For my part I recover the flow of a sheet metal by this means, on the other hand a sheet =1 piece with us so no multibody and therefore no risk of pointing at another body.
In your case several tubes, I don't know how this function behaves.
And not possible to test for me either, because each test impacts all the other cartoonists (about 20).
It's up to you to try and possibly call the hotline to find out if this is feasible in your case.
And share the feedback with us.
