Good evening
Currently a student, I am in the middle of a study project for an application in terms of travel.
I have the PY1 linear displacement sensor that my school bought from http://www.sensel-measurement.fr/15-capteur-de-deplacement
However, I'm a bit stuck about using it.. What electronics should I use it with? I'm a little lost in this application and it's delaying my study...
Thank you very much in advance
Tell us more about your project :-)
- Have you been to the sensor manufacturer's website (Sensel seems to be only a reseller)? There is probably a "support" section that contains integration booklets.
- why not contact Sensel or the manufacturer of the sensor (Sensel seems to be only a reseller)?
In general, these companies have dedicated services to answer this kind of question.
I imagine that you are not alone on this project and that there will be other sensors, what are the other technologies chosen?
Hello
I found the documentation of this sensor on the Gefran website.
This first link gives the information you are asking for, I think:
http://www.gefran.com/en/download/3212/attachment/fr
And the general documentation:
http://www.gefran.com/en/download/3120/attachment/fr
http://www.gefran.com/en/download/4137/attachment/fr
You can also download the 2D / 3D models and certifications:
For your sensor problem, you'll control it with a PLC :-) (the manufacturer offers you some)
Here is the range
The software for management
A connection module for example
The operator interface

After that, it all depends on your project and what the sensor is associated with.
As stefbeno pointed out , you must have other elements.
In order for us to help you, you need to explain this project to us a little more 8-)
Hello
We should be a little more precise about the purpose of this measure. Is it just to have a value on a display? Should you make a dynamic acquisition?
The sensor itself is quite simple. It's a potentiometer. As indicated in the documentation, it is necessary to feed on pins 1 and 3. We then recover a variable tension between pins 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 depending on the direction of travel. It is this variable tension that must be analyzed.
Ideally, the measurement should have been calibrated beforehand on the limit stops, for example.
Hello jujuscience
We don't know what you're talking about, but if it's electronics in general, I recommend this Digital Indicator > http://www.sensel-measurement.fr/indicateurs-numeriques/49-paxd-indicateur-numerique-multi-entree-universelle.html that seems to do the trick.
