Helix cutting in surface

Hello

 As part of a reinforcement of a mixer propeller, I have to put sheets on it.

After drawing the propeller, I would like to cut it into several pieces (splitting) and then flatten it to take the developments of each sheet.

How can you split in surface?

It seems to me that this is feasible via Separation Line , then Surface Flattened,

That said, I think that a transitional sheet is closer to reality;)
