Hello
I want to make a spiral torsion spring, also called a constant force spring in the sheet metal module of SolidWorks.
The idea is then to unfold it to be able to remove material from the ends.
I have no probl_me to make this piece in volume, but it is impossible to convert to sheet metal and even to create this spiral sheet metal from the base.
Help-me!

Try clicking on one of the end edges (see image) then Insert/Sheet metal/Folds.

Hello
In fact, to create it in sheet metal, you would have to keep one of the legs straight for the first step, otherwise SolidWorks won't want to!
@Lucas
SolidWorks has only been able to handle fully bent sheet metal (i.e. without flat) for a few versions!

I found a tutorial on the subject:
http://www.javelin-tech.com/blog/2010/08/create-a-rolled-component-that-can-be-unfolded/
It uses 2 identical sketches, then the transition fold function:

I made a piece that looks pretty much ...
In fact the spiral is a succession of arcs, but it does it well
All that remains is to adapt the number of turns and the pitch (the middle square is a step/4 in size)
