Dislocation of the stresses of a part inserted in an SLDPRT

Hello

I'm working on parts in SolidWorks 2013 and I'm facing a small problem.

I usually insert parts into a basic part.

However, in the rest of my design, SolidWorks no longer takes into account the constraints. It therefore breaks all my downstream functions because the part is no longer located in its initial state. And even if I re-define the constraints, it is impossible for me to replace the element correctly...

So I had to reinsert the part and redo each function. Have you ever had this problem? How can this be remedied without repeating all the work?

Thank you

Hello

I admit that I have a hard time understanding.

You insert one piece into another and then ???

I do not understand what you are doing with this piece inserted afterwards.

Can you please clarify.

Other questions (probably stupid not knowing what you want to design) why this method rather than an assembly?

I can see the usefulness of inserting one part into another (nut welded on a part for example), but I don't see when the problem arises!

Is it due to loading a file from an older version (2012 or >)?

It's true that I wasn't very clear.

I use this function because I got a USB key in CAD with a frame and a cap (so two parts). Except that I have to thicken it in height and move the dividing line (so lengthen the frame and decrease the cap)without losing all the design. To do this, I formed a piece with the other two and then modified and recut it as I wished (I hope I'm clear enough ^^ ).

So I insert the part into the other room with constraints. Then I start to edit it. And at some point, SolidWorks loses the constraints and breaks the whole creation tree because the inserted and normally constrained part ends up elsewhere. It was impossible to put the piece back where it was. The only way I found is to start from scratch :-( This is not recurrent because by redoing exactly the same functions, I have not seen this problem again.

So I wanted to know if it was a bug and if someone had managed to counter it because this is at least the third time I've had this problem.

I guess it's a bug but I've never been confronted with it. If you can put a file that is causing problems here for us to look at.

Unfortunately I won't be able to put an image on this project because of its confidentiality. But if I'm confronted with this bug again, I try to take print shots.

In any case, thank you!

Hello

Are the two recovered parts made with SolidWorks or are they bitten bodies?

If these are bitten bodies, it's better to save the whole thing as a piece rather than "playing" with the insert mode.

Otherwise, what prevents you from working directly with the two parts in assembly, even if it will create external references?

I use this feature because I think it's more direct and quick. After inserting and combining them, the pieces form a single block that I can handle easily. (Well, normally).

These are parts created with the same version of SolidWorks. I think my machine must have bugs sometimes...

Hello

If you have configurations, remember to also look at the configuration of the constraints, if they are  all activated in your configs, or if depending on the configurations, there are none that are "deleted"...

@ more.

I hadn't used the configs for these parts so the problem doesn't come from there either ... :-(

So I redid my part assembly from the beginning and the problem did not reappear. I then conclude that I must have had a bug even if I don't know why it occurred.
