For all Draftsight users (Windows and Ubuntu), you should know that since version 1.5 and also seen on 1.5.1, you may encounter problems opening your drawings, "It can't find your files anymore". In fact, release 1.5 includes a nice big bug, it can only recognize "US" table characters. So if your directories and filenames have non-US characters, you'll have problems. (an accent is non-US) Bug reported to Draftsight, but not fixed in V1.5.1.
In fact, I look at the ongoing issues here on my own. I made a copy of it in my "Draftsight Fan" group. As a general rule, I look first before asking the question and as a result, I thought that making a piece of information where everyone is looking, would be smarter, especially since you have to look to find the cause of this bug... Thank you for the remark! Have a nice day
You're lucky, with us with the 1.5, we have the problem on all the positions. It's also true that some people tend to write novels for directory names and filenames. FYI, this also affects directory names.
I don't know if it's the combination of the two (directory + file), or no's too long with spaces and accents, or ... In any case, we look good C... when we try to open a file and it makes us believe that it is dead when in fact it is just an impression.
The problem at Drafsight was raised at the level of the "Drafsight community" 2 weeks ago and for my part, here is the response of the "drafsight" support:
" Unfortunately this is a known problem and a regression to V1R4. We have logged this with Software Performance Report (SPR) 763853- Cannot open the file containing Cyrillic (special) symbols in file name. Our development team is currently working on the problem. As soon as the problem is fixed, we will announce it in the DraftSight Online Community in the Release Notes."
Apart from the certain bugs, it remains a good software, considering its price (0€) for the basic version.
