DriveWorks Pro: How do I set up a drawing dimension (cutting angle, diameter of the detail circle, etc.)?

Hello

I have a part set up with DriveWorks which can therefore have different sizes and I would like to be able to manage the diameter of the detail circle in the drawing. Because if the diameter of the detail circle remains constant as the piece grows (keeping the scale of the sheet constant), then the circle no longer encompasses the elements I want to enlarge. So my question is how it is possible to set the value of this diameter in the drawing.

Another example would be to set the cutting angle of a part. Indeed, depending on the size of the workpiece, the pitch of the machined thread changes and I would like to be able to change the angle of the cut in order to always be perpendicular to the section.

Thank you in advance. Kind regards

Hello
So I would like to be able to drive from DriveWorks

  1. the cutting angle value of 25° which will vary according to the higher families
  2. The value of the diameter of the detail circle which will increase with higher families

Hoping that it will be clearer.

Kind regards

Hello Nicolas,

You asked your question some time ago but in doubt,

There is no "direct" functionality to control the value of the circle diameter of a detail view or the cutting angle, however, if there is a relationship with the geometry of the component, you can use a sketch relationship to constrain the circle or the cut line. You can also create planes that you can position at the same time.Use rules in the component if needed.

What do you think?

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for your answer. So this means, if I understood correctly, that I have to create a sketch in my 3D with, say, a circle of parameterized diameter and that in the 2D I come to constrain the sketch of the circle of detail on this sketch of the 3D?

Yes and no:)

Adding a sketch should be possible but I think that using reference geometries, for example a plan is simpler.

Taking the example of the image I attach, you can create a shot in your room (in red).

Then in your drawing, edit the sketch of the circle for the detail view (in blue) and add a tangent relationship with the plane (in red).

The plan can be constrained in the room itself but can also be controlled with DriveWorks rules if necessary.

The same logic for replacing a shot with a sketch should be playable as well.

I hope it's clear enough:)
