Edit dimensions in a part family

Hi everyone

In order to have a standard model of a machine and to be able to manage the dimensions of the different components (I tried to export an equation file from the Excel and it didn't work) so  I created a family of parts with a single configuration and it worked, On the other hand I encountered 03  problems:
1- I can't save the family of parts in an external file in order to be able to insert it in other solidworks files, because I'm working on a standardization theme of the same category of machines so it's the same equations with some modifications for each type.
2- My dimensions on the 3D model are blocked by the family of parts and I can't make any changes.

3-For the rest of my work, I need to insert new dimensions in the part family so I used ....@Esquisse... (a solution I saw on the solidworks tutorial) in the table on Excel but the software doesn't recognize them!!!

I wanted to know if we should create a new family of parts every time we add a dimension? or, we can add directly to the family that we have already created,
Thanks in advance

To add a dimension in your part family, simply go to a new column of your part family (usually in row 2) and then click on an edited dimension to add it to your part family.

Or another solution you go to the sketch and you make a copy of the name of the coast and then paste it in the excel

Otherwise there are many tutorials on this subject on youtube, here is one:
