Removal of material in unfolded state

Hi all

Being new to the forum and a beginner on solidworks, I find myself with a problem.

After creating my 2 sheet metal parts, I would like to remove material from the unfolded state of one of my parts. Once this is done, when I put it back to the origin, the removal is not done.

How do I do this? Thanks in advance

To make a hole in an unfolded state, you have to use the 1st icon (Unfold), select all the folds, validate, then remove material, select the 2nd icon (Fold), select all the folds, validate. And only then can you fold, unfold with the 3rd icon.

Hello

This is normal, your hole is cylindrical on your unfolded when it should be "oval". It is wiser to make an extrusion on the folded part by checking "Remove. of normal matter".

However, if it's not a cylindrical part (I don't have the same version as you), the option offered by sbadenis is good.

FYI @contact_168 I too couldn't open the file (future version), I answered what I think I understood!

With a little luck one of the 2 of us will have answered well.

Thank you for your feedback,

I wanted to go through the "unfold" step but the part is cylindrical in shape so it is impossible to select a fixed face.

I started with a projection of a plan for the removal of material.

Otherwise the answer of "sbadenis" is the right one in this case. Thank you again.

Hello

You can add a piece of flat sheet metal that you will then remove;)

For a bent part, instead of selecting a face you can select an edge to make the unfolded and fold function (see attached image) and take the same edge for the 2 functions
