Material removal by intersection

Hello

Does anyone know of a function that allows the removal of material from the green part by the crossbeams?

A removal of material by intersection for example.

Hello

If you want to remove material from the green part section, why not do it..... Material removal at the assembly (Insertion/Assembly Function/Material Removal/Extrusion) of a section corresponding to the green part (sketch plane on the end of the green part). In the "function action area" option, select all the parts concerned (or click on "All components", confirm, then come back to deselect the green part!).

Edit: to answer the basic question, you can't directly remove material from one component to another, unlike what you can do within a part, by combining/subtracting bodies.)

When I do your procedure, after clicking on material removal and the face or perform it, it is asked to make a sketch

Yes, that's right, you have to go through a sketch, but it's very simple: choose the end of the green part as the sketch plane, then once in the sketch click on the face and go to Tools/Sketch Tools/Convert Entities. This way you quickly get the profile of the room.

Here's an example under SW13:

Great thank you very much, is it then possible to make a shift?

If it's an offset for the game across the entire periphery, instead of doing Tools/Sketching Tools/Convert Entities, do Tools/Sketching Tools/Offset Entities and choose an offset value and direction.

Could you show it to me as you did for the function please?

Hello

Otherwise edit the part in the assembly and then do the Stamping function in which you can indicate the desired set.

For this kind of thing, I edit the part, then insert=> mold => imprint function.

then I shift the whole thing of the desired game into a simple function of removing matter. But the fingerprint function allows you to make a withdrawal but in percentage.

Hello

Frédéric's method is not bad, on the other hand he makes a shift in the imprint except that I just want to widen this imprint in order to have play

Benoit.Lf I understand the principle well except that I would like to make the offset on the green piece. So you're going to tell me to make the sketch on the grey but I have 21 pieces like the grey one so I would like not to have to make a sketch for a part.

Fixed issue:

Since the green part is a flat iron, I used "welded construction" and then the "adjust/extend" tool where it is then possible to create a solder set that thus achieves our offset.

Thank you all for your answers because they may be very useful to me later.

The @Frédéric solution seems interesting.

If you are still interested in the material removal solution, you can also make a derivative sketch :

  • Draw the sketch of your desired material removal, at the assembly level and validate this sketch
  • Edit a grey part in context
  • Select the sketch (located in the assembly) +CTRL the face where you want to project it onto this part.
  • Insertion/Derived Sketch

As a result, you have entities in your part sketch that are derived from your assembly sketch. And you can use it to make a material removal.

Yes, it must be done for the 21 pieces, as the other solution apparently. :/

I thought you were one of those who make their constructions welded into assemblies. :) It is indeed much easier to manage by welding construction within a room!

I also noticed that when using the material removal solution, once you want to open the part alone, the removal does not appear

Have you looked at these tutorials

http://www.lynkoa.com/tutos/3d/fonction-bibliotheque-dans-solidworks

http://www.lynkoa.com/tutos/3d/composants-intelligents

 For example:

If your green flat iron is a scouring part

you can insert it in your personal library

so create all the desired functions in auto (smart functions) ;-)

That's all for me

Have a nice day

GT 22 is exactly what I did:)
