Removal of material perpendicular to a helical curve

Hello

I built a fir-shaped helical extrusion. On this strip of material, I would like to create recesses to place cylindrical colored pieces.

For that, I need to build a material removal that would be normal to the helical curve already drawn for the shape of the tree.

Well, since I'm explaining myself like a piece of, I'm attaching my file to you.

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Something like that?
If you are in 2019 I can pass you the file. You have to use "Repeat by curve" but on the condition that you place the first object correctly (your mini cylinder given for the example is not in the right place  ;-)

Hi @Zozo_mp

And thank you for the screenshots

I think (reading the text)

that he wishes to do:

material removal

to the axis of its spiral sweep

and only then:

Putting these lights together

Oops! Are you right @gt22

It doesn't change anything in principle it seems to me ;-)

That's it rectified ;-)

Good evening everyone,

Oh yes, that's exactly what I'd like to do, either LED lights or color dots.

Thanks again, I'll try this & have a good end of Sunday.

Stéphane.

 @ Stéphane 72

in the light of the answers and their relevance

It would be good for convenience to put at least 1 I like to the answers given

I found this repetition function in relation to a curve but suddenly, all my cylinders remain oriented like the 1st!

What's the trick?

Thank you.

Yes, I apologize. Error fixed.

Hello @Stephane 72

It's because you don't select the right side and above all you don't start from the right AMHA   plan ;-)

Would you like a simple mini tutorial???

Kind regards

Yes, I want to, because I don't want to be given a file that's already made, but I want to understand what I'm drawing.

Thank you in advance.

Stéphane.
